The wedd!ng turned out well on the whole, or at least I think it did anyway... for I ended up being late for the ceremony, due to my own hair and makeup tr!al running late.
It turned out that the ceremony was pushed back by just over half an hour as the br!de had a slight 'hiccup', so I arrived just a quarter of an hour into the ceremony.
By the time the ceremony was over, we had a couple of hours to kill before the reception started. With Pony being their b3st man, I was pretty much left to my own devices.
Not familar with The Bay, I ended up "tailgating" after a couple of friends to the nearest cafe in S.Bay to grab a quick bite and a cup of coffee (hot chocolate for me). It turned out to be one of the most enjoyable times that I've ever had with this particular group of friends, especially since they were really Pony's friends as supposed to mine.
I got to know a couple of the girls better than I have ever known them. Pony thinks that it is due to not having B-man & CC around, as they tend to monopolise the conversation into one that they rather converse about.
By the time we got back to the reception, it was another half hour wait... and more catching up and getting-to-know-you-better with some of the other guests. I was seated at the table where there was really only one person who was capable of maintaining a normal conversation that doesn't include G0d every second sentence. Guess who I spent the rest of the night talking to and avoiding as much as I could?
It was, however, pretty amazing for me to sit back and watch Pony run the entire show as the br!de and gr00m enjoyed the rest of their night. Despite Pony's misgivings about CC, his speech brought not only much mirth, laughter and amusement to everyone, it also brought many a tear to those of us who were there.
What was especially touching was when he turned his speech onto the br!de-of-the-day... that there were people in this world who were unmaterialistic (CC), and for these people, when they focuss their attention, their love on what was unmaterialistic, they gave their whole heart and soul to that one passion of theirs (B-man) unwaveringly, passionately and undoubtedly. For that, B-man was the most fortunate recipient of this focus, of this love.
Even now, recalling those very words of Pony's still bring a tear to my eyes.
